Many patients report a varied number of symptoms and report diagnosis of autoimmune
disease soon after the implants being placed. Whilst these are common complaints there is
no known associate link between breast implants and autoimmune disease. Unfortunately,
many people develop common autoimmune diseases and some of these people also have
breast implants. The vast majority of people with breast implants do not develop
autoimmune disease.
Similarly, there is no known link between implants and fatigue, change of bowel habit and
diet, or other metabolic disturbances. Again, these are very common problems that occur in
a large number of patients with or without implants. That being said, there is anecdotal
evidence of people experiencing resolution of symptoms post implant removal. With that in
mind no guarantee can be made that systemic symptoms will improve post-surgery.
